Welcome to the young people of Ross & Comarty A warm welcome to Ross & Comarty the latest area to host a Bluelight event. If you’re new to this site this is how it works, down the left hand side of the page you’ll see hyperlinks to other pages on the site. In order to locate the page for your area you need to know which police force organises your event. For example, if you attend the Strathpeffer disco you’re in the Central Division of Northern Constabulary and you need toclick on “Northern” and this takes you to the page for your area.
If you live in Fife then you need to know which division you live in, for example, if you live in Dunfermline or Lochgelly you are in the West Division and the West page is your page.
On each area page is a link called “view our gallery” this is where you find photos taken at events in your area. If there are no photos in your gallery it’s because no one from your area has sent us any so get on to your organisers and get them to take some photos and send them to us.
In the links section there are links to various sites which may be of benefit to you and finally, there is a link to email us. Please use this to let us know what you think of events in your area and, of course, any suggestions you may have.
What is Bluelight?
Bluelight is a successful project that provides discos for young people throughout Fife, Edinburgh and in venues in Strathclyde and Dumfries and Galloway and the latest area to join us Strathpeffer in Ross & Cromarty. Entry to each disco, which is strictly controlled by Police Officers, is by pre-purchase of a ticket and undertaking a breath test and a search. See photo above. Anyone failing the test will be denied entry and will be taken home by Police Officers.
Bluelight is organised and operated by partners which in Fife, including Fife Constabulary, Fife Council Community Learning & Development Section, Leisure Services, Local Office Network, Abbeyview Regeneration Initiative, community volunteers, NHS Fife Health Promotion Department, Nursing in Schools Service, Kirkcaldy and Levenmouth CHP and Dunfermline and West Fife CHP, with similar partnerships organising the Edinburgh and Dumfries & Galloway projects.
Each event is staffed by Police Officers, Youth Workers, Health Workers and volunteers. However, an important member of the Bluelight team is Dillon, a black Labrador, specially trained to sniff out concealed drugs. Dillon is usually on duty at the start of each Bluelight event and really enjoys his work. So please bear this in mind!
During each disco we provide chill out and info areas where you can gain information on all sorts of subjects affecting young people or simply have a chat with a member of our team.
